Dharma Systems
Releases industry's first Linux ODBC SDK

.

Dharma Provides First ODBC SDK for Linux

Opens Linux applications to industry standard tools

April 1999 - Dharma Systems, Inc., a leader in the design and development of query technology for use in data access solutions, unveiled the industry's first Linux based ODBC software development kit (SDK).

"Organizations developing applications in the Linux environment need to provide users easy access to their Linux based data," states Rich Lewan, Vice President Dharma's Products Group. "With our ODBC SDK for Linux, developers can quickly and easily build an ODBC interface to their Linux application, enabling access to that data via any ODBC compliant tool on the market."

Linux is a fast-growing UNIX variant that is attracting legions of users as well as major hardware and software vendors. Both Dell Computer and IBM have recently announced that they offer factory installation of Linux on new systems.

Dharma's announcement makes it the first vendor in the industry to offer an ODBC data access solution for application vendors who have-or want to have-their data or applications run on Linux. The Dharma ODBC SDK provides easy-to-implement, high-performance access from any ODBC client tool to data on Linux servers. The same ODBC SDK also supports Windows NT, IBM AIX, HP-UX, and Sun Solaris.

"Having an ODBC SDK for Linux definitely makes Linux more desirable for business applications," states Jim Kelly, Executive Vice President of Appgen Business Software, Inc., "This is an important offering for both the operating system's users and our company."

Dharma ODBC SDK Lite v 6.2 for Linux is available as a no charge, royalty free download from Dharma's website or as a fully supported version (Dharma ODBC Professional for Linux) directly from the company.
